One more thing: is it possible to bind shared variables (in the DSC Module) to Tags corresponding to Smar PLCs, through the Smar OPC Server?

Yes, that should be possible. You will need to go to Project Explorer, right-click on My Computer -> New -> I/O Server and choose OPC Client. You will get the attached page, at which point you can select network and choose the machine where the OPC server is based. After you have set this up successfully, you can bind shared variables to the OPC registers.
