Strain measurement NI9237

Hello

I am struggling to understand the connections I need to make to the NI9237's RJ50 sockets

I have two 120 ohm strain gauges each gauge have two wires, I am intending to measure hoop

stress in a thin walled pressure vessel with one active gauge and the other for temperature

compensation in a half bridge configuration.

Do I need to connect the bonded gauge to Channel 0 pin 6 EX+ and pin 2 AI+

then the unbonded gauge to Channel 1 pin 7 EX- and pin 2 AI+

Sorry if the is an obvious question.

Thanks In advance

Mick

Hi Mick,

I would suggest that you start by having a look at the following KB article:

https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z000000PA73SAG

It talks about the different configurations you can connect the strain gauge in, dependent on the strain gauge.

The following article then talks about how you can start to take measurements:

http://www.ni.com/getting-started/set-up-hardware/data-acquisition/strain-gages

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
