Guidance Needed for Basic LabVIEW Programming for IC Engine Monitoring

Hello everyone,

I'm new to LabVIEW and have recently developed an interest in programming for IC engine monitoring and control systems. My background is in Opto Electronics and Laser Technology, but I’m still learning how to apply LabVIEW to this field, especially for IC engines and CRDI control systems.

I’d greatly appreciate any advice or resources to help me get started with the basics of LabVIEW programming for IC engine monitoring. Specifically, I’m interested in learning how to:

  • Interface LabVIEW with engine sensors
  • Monitor and log real-time data (e.g., pressure, temperature)
  • Perform basic analysis and control tasks

If there are any beginner tutorials, example programs, or helpful tips you can share, I’d be grateful!

Thanks in advance for your help!

If all that you want to do is acquire data from several types of sensors, you can use FlexLogger as it comes with several of the required features to get started.

You might want to also study CAN Bus, as all of the engine sensors in a modern vehicle communicate over CAN Bus.
