Getting Started in Labview PDF is gone to the website

IMHO, I think that not including the "Getting Started in Labview pdf" is bad. I notice it missing in the install package since ~2012. I was able to train an intern using the 2011 Getting Started by just letting them walk through without an human explanation. Now NI refers you to there Getting Started web page that just has too much information broken into too many compartments and the new user will have to look and wane through too much wordiness al the while not laying down a wire. I say bring it back into the install package. Rich J

Are you referring to the LabVIEW Basics 1 and 2 that used to come on the Installation CDs?  Looking over my old CDs, it looks like the last set that included them was LabVIEW 2011 (I may have missed it on more recent distributions ...).  If you have the old CDs (or DVDs), you should be able to install this on your own PC, if you prefer it to the current on-line offerings.

Have you checked out the videos mentioned on the first page of the LabVIEW Forums (upper right-hand corner)?

No, I'm referring to a PDF document that was located in the LabviewVersion/manual folder called LV_Getting_Started.pdf. Nothing to do with LV Basics 1 & 2 training books.

Hello richjoh,

I believe I have found a version of “Getting Started with LabVIEW” that came out in June 2013. Is this document similar to the one you were referring to? I have provided a link to the document below:

Please let me know if this is the information you are looking for. If not, I would be happy to find other documentation that can assist you.

Hi Gabby, Yes that's the document. Do you know if its officially no longer supported with the LV install disk? It's much better hands on instructions vs the web Getting Started interface. Its definitely not installed in the "manuals" folder any longer. Rich J

Hello Rich,

I have various versions of LabVIEW installed on my computer, and the last version of LabVIEW that contains a "Getting Started Guide" along with the install is LabVIEW 2013. You mentioned that the "Getting Started Guide" that is included with the install has better "hands on" instructions than the "Getting Started Guide" on the web. I have looked over a few "Getting Started Guides" included with installs and compared them to that on the Internet, and I have not seen any glaring differences between the two. Is there specific information missing from the web version of the guide that you were able to find within the versions included with LabVIEW installs?

In short, it does appear that there is no "Getting Started Guide" included with the install of LabVIEW versions 2014 and later, but the web version of the guide is meant to provide the same information previously found in the install of earlier versions of LabVIEW.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or comments.
