Did you actually try the tutorial? If this is your first time with LabVIEW, you need to actually "do" it a bit, play around with moving/sizing/coloring Controls and Indicators (I assume you know the difference between these). You can do a lot with the GUI elements that come with LabVIEW, but there are also other "custom" GUI elements out there, you just need to look around (have you checked the LabVIEW Tools Network?).
