Emerson to buy NI ?

https://www.emerson.com/en-us/news/2023/emerson-national-instruments-announcement

Maybe if Emerson buys NI that would be something of the best that could happen,

considering how much nonsense NI har done the last years;

LV NXG, new license regime, reorganization to close down all local offices, no more direct sale etc etc.

Well, you never know how well that kind of thing might work out.

I once worked for a company that was bought and sold many times.  Each time we hoped things would get better.  They never did.  At one point we were bought by a company that had a business model of buying other companies, sucking them dry, then spitting out the bones.  The next buyer was one of our competitors who just took our contracts then shut us down.

Part of Emerson's already stated plan would be to cut operating costs and investment by 5-10% as a route to increase profits... So there's that. Everyone seems to be of the opinion that NI is doing things out of spite which is plain silly and for some reason think that what NI has done isn't the industry norm... I'm not sure where all this "surely anyone else would do better" comes from. ANY change will always be a gamble and I do hope that whatever shakes out, especially after Dr. T stated he approves the acquisition, that things don't get worse. There certainly isn't any sign that things would get better; only time will tell.

So the story gets more interesting. What if keysight picks up NI? That would make for an interesting next few years for TM engineers. https://www.fool.com/investing/2023/03/10/who-will-win-the-bidding-war-for-national-instrume/

I'm an optimist so I'm guessing LabVIEW will now go back to perpetual license and the price will be $100 per seat, people will flock to labview because it is awesome and it will be the #3 programming language in 5 years!

All the former NI leadership disappeared from ni.com. It goes to Emerson Leadership Page...
