NASA LabVIEW User Group Meeting 12/7/22 (3 Phase DC Motor Simulation System in LabVIEW)

In this meeting, Greg Sussman shared how Tech180 developed a HIL test system to simulate 3 phase brushless DC motors and actuators for the JPL Europa Lander project.  This LabVIEW-based system provided closed-loop dynamic simulation and synchronized sensor feedback to the motor control electronics.  The simulation proved successful with an upgraded version being planned for use on the Mars Sample Return program.

 

Greg led a discussion that dove into the hardware and software architecture of the system as well as some of the challenges encountered both in the hardware and software development.

 

Congratulations to all who have supported the Artemis program at NASA!  We look forward to a successful splashdown on December 11th.
