Hi,

I am using the compact fieldpoint cFP-1808 ethernet module.  I am trying to increase the update rate of my system. 

I have read the article, "How Can I Optimize the Update Rate of a FieldPoint Ethernet Network Controller?", but it does not mention the "advise rate" which is configurable through MAX? 

I am using LabWindows, but I am not using FP_Advise...but rather using the synchronous FP_Read.  Does it matter if the advise rate is configured?  Does it affect how often modules update the controller?

Hi Doug,

the definition of the advise rate is.

"Advise Rate: In the background, the FP Advise function polls the module at a set interval until there is a change. Once a change in value is detected, the FP Advise function returns the changed value to the FieldPoint Server."

This means that if your advise rate is higher than your read rate, it will affect the speed of your module.

Thanks for the reply, but I am not using the FP advise function...I am using the FP_Read function - does it still depend on the advise rate?

the advise rate is in the background no matter if you use the function or not.
