My RS-232 port is made with the aid of a USB converter and I can't connect it with FP-1000

   Hi,

as I wrote in the subject-field I dont have RS-232 port firmly in my computer but I have made one with the aid of a USB converter (Edgeport from IO Networks). My problem is, however, that I can't make a connection between this port and FP-1000. Has anyone experienced same kinds of problems? Is it possible that the software is just unable to identify RS-232 port coming through a USB port or is there a way by some configuration changes to make this connection work?

kind regards, Mandys

Hi Mandys

If you install the USB -> RS232 convertor successfuly, you'll get a new virtual port.

you can use this port (to communicate FP 1000) as you use other "real" ports.

Be sure the installation was OK, and you are using the correct port.

Ok, I got the thing work. I had chosen the right port, but hadn't clicked the "find device"-button. Tells all about my knowledge base in LabView and Fieldpoint... Thank you tst for taking the time to answer my stupid question, I appreciate it!
