keyboard issues

Recently, when starting a new message, the cursor often does not appear until I type the first character, even if I click inside the message composition window. This is OK on the desktop, but on the phone (android) it causes the problem that the virtual keyboard does not appear at all.

I cannot compose a new message until I type one character, but I cannot type a character until the keyboard appears.

What's up with that?

I haven't seen this, but I've had the space bar not work until I hit escape.

this also has effected Speach recognition.  I can't just talk to the forum and am reduced to the primitive method of interacting with a (GASP) Keyboard!

from a note to self that I just found out hitting the quote key will always bring up the keyboard on my tablet there are times when the keyboard merely pops in and out of existence almost faster then I can catch the keyboard and faster that I can see

By quoting the post you are replying to the keyboard seems much more reliable and you can delete the original quote. This is not a solution this is a workaround that some of you may find useful.

Open parentheses, really, space.

Posting via Google speak. Close parentheses, really?
