If I click "download all" to get the two attachments here (same problem with all threads that have longish subjects!), it generates a zip file that ends in three dots.
The problem is that windows explorer refuses to extract this zip file into a folder as is! (right-click...extract all...).
Once I delete the three dots at the end the extraction completes without error.
Conclusion: When the forum software creates a zip file for multiple attachments, it should not append "..." to the truncated subject line.

"Do not end a file or directory name with a space or a period. Although the underlying file system may support such names, the Windows shell and user interface does not."
Obviously, the initial zip file (C:\abc\xyz...zip) is fine, but windows blindly strips the trailing ".zip" to suggest the folder name "C:\abc\xyz...\", which turns out to be illegal. One could argue that the windows zip tool could deal with all this better, but we don't have any control over that. 🙂 )

I also would not mind the "Attachments from" being removed from the front of the zip and contained folder as well (help shorten the file name).
I could also make an argument for not even have the folder inside of the zip file.

Fully agree with both! (I actually planned to raise exactly these secondary issues later 😉 . Also the "Re_" should get dropped)

Hi @altenbach and @crossrulz,
I've created a bug ticket to address these issues as they are all valid concerns. I will see where we can prioritize them against current and planned work.
Thanks,
Mark

Our developer team was working on this last week. I don't have a solid delivery date but it is in the "coming soon" category.
