D-Link Bridge Setting

Solved!
Go to solution

At competition, does the D-Link have to be on the bridge setting, and if so, how do you connect to it? I have only been able to connect when it is on the AP Setting. When it is on the bridge setting, it's name disappears on the classmate's wireless network options.

In Bridge mode the D-Link is trying to find a WiFi net with the SSID of your team number. It does not create a WiFi network.

The game field at the competition creates these WiFi access points and the bridge connects to them.

Your D-Link must be in Bridge mode at the competition.

Use a piece of tape to hold it there at the competition, or lose connection at some point.

You must tether (use ethernet cable) to the bridge in the pits to re-program or test.

How do you set it up to search for my team's number?

It uses the same SSID that you setup for APmode when you initially setup the D-Link.

At the competition you will have to get the D-Link radio re-programmed at the Robot Inspection Station,

this does two things: makes sure that the firmware is correct, and programs the correct SSID for your team and game field,

and sets the WPA2 encryption so that no other team can interfere with your robot WiFi connection.

We may also have to swap out radio's in the queue if there is too much WiFi noise for the D-Link's.

You have read the team updates from FIRST, right?

Cheers!
