myDAQ homework problem: Op Amps > Integrator

Problem Statement: One period of the periodic input vin(t) is shown; the period is 15 ms. Plot the integrator output waveform vout(t) for R = 10 kW and C = 0.1 mF.

Analysis:

myDAQ Measurement:

  • Include a 1.0 MW resistor in parallel with the capacitor to make the circuit operate as expected
  • The TI TL072CP op amp is shown in the video clip; any dual-supply op amp is suitable, however, be sure to use the correct pin numbers for your op amp.
  • Create vin(t) with NI ELVISmx Arbitrary Waveform Generator; use 50 kS/s update rate
  • Observe vin(t) and vout(t) with NI ELVISmx Oscilloscope
  • Measure the numerical value of vout(t) in several constant regions constant regions with cursor
  • Follow along with the video clip below to confirm correct operation of your measurement setup

Comparison:

  • Report percentage difference between calculated values in constant regions and corresponding measured values
  • What purpose does the 1.0 MW resistor serve? Observe vout(t), disconnect the resistor, and connect it again; summarize the behavior you observed. Propose an explanation, if possible.
  • Include screenshot of oscilloscope display
