Specifically what version of LabVIEW are you trying to install?

Please generate a log of your install by using the "setup.exe /log <file>" command line option as decribed here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/AB597E885DB7D16B86256E92006DB232

Do you have any other NI software already installed on your system?  If you already have MAX installed please generate a MAX Technical report, as decribed here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/271F252B4EF0A2E0862570E70056A1E4

Also, if there are files at the location specified here, grab these as well: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/ACAA8550534EA407862574B80074DEDF

Please zip up and post the logs above as they will all help to troubleshoot your issue.

Hey Helder,

It looks like this error is caused by Windows; here's a Microsoft support article about it: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;872903

It sounds like your user account may not have the necessary permissions. The article I linked contains more detailed instructions to try resolving the issue, but the first thing I'd try is installing LabVIEW as an administrator. To do this, simply right-click the LabVIEW installer and choose "Run as administrator". If the install still gives the error 1317, I'd try the steps in the Microsoft article.

I hope that works for you, but if you still need assistance after that, the information requested by the poster above would be helpful in resolving the issue.

I wonder if general installation-related questions like this should go in NI Package Manager (NIPM) ? Maybe that forum should be renamed "NI Package Manager (NIPM) & Software Installation", and this should be renamed "NI License Manager (NILM) & Volume License Manager (VLM)"?
