It would be fine that the nivsscr definition use GUID to link channels in addition to the names (like in vssdf) so the mapping is not broken when an object is renamed in the vssdf. The name should be used only to repare recreated channels.
Anyway the MMI control or display should show an error condition when its mapping is no longer valid.
