how to practice configuring and programing

hello everyone

I am confronted with a problem for I im getting into the study of VXI/VME recently.

my  goal is to come up with a plan applying vmebus into cold-rolling systerm.  

Please help me with the following points:

1.My lab is lack of the hardware ,how can I stimulating my systerm?

2.I'm not sure whether the NI-VISA I have installed  is adequate for use. IF not,how can I do.
