VXI Embedded Serial Number

We are using a VXIpc-850 or VXIpc870 embedded computer and was wondering if the computers serial number is stored somewhere in eeprom so that it can be easily read. Or is the serial in a file on the hard drive (like defaultconfiguration.cfg) that I could open up?

Hello Olevel:

Thank you for contacting National Instruments. Unfortunately, it is not possible in VXI since that is not one of the attributes/properties stored in the A16 space. It may be possible for the user to store a value in the EEPROM for the serial number of the controller, but it may be hard to configure something like that. That is just not a value in the VXI specification, so unfortunately, there isn't an easy solution.
