MXI2 often locks PC after upgrading from 350 to 2800MHz

After upgrading the PC in one of our testsystems, (from 350MHz P2 to 2800MHz Hyperthread P4) it locks-up very often. (mouse & keyboard freeze, only a hardware reset or power off/on seems to help) But only when we talk to the VXI-rack.
A PC burn-in test can run for days without problems.
Is there something known about an incompatibility between MXI-2 PCI cards and modern PC's?
All other hardware stayed the same. (cards were taken from the old PC)
Software and drivers are identical on both PC's and quite recent.
Apart from the MXI-2 PCI, in the pc are present: a GPIB-PCI card, a 8-fold Rocket port serial interface and Adaptec SCSI controller.

Hi Guido,

Do you have the latest driver of NI-VXI installed? It should be version 3.3.1. You can download the driver from the following link:

http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/B477EA6D4114AA3386256E0100603DD2?opendocument&node=132070_US

Could you give it a try with the 3.3.1 driver if you don't have the driver already installed.

Our driver supports Windows XP ,so the latest OS should be supported. If your new PC has the correct PCI standards, there shouldn't be any problem. At what point does the PC crash? When you run a program or when you configure the VXI chassis in MAX?

What kind of PC do you have? OS? Is there other third-party driver software installed that could cause a conflict with the NI-driver?

What happens when you shutdown the V
XI-system when the PC hangs? Does the mouse and keyboard work again or is there no difference?
When a VXI or MXIbus cycle does not complete, this hangs the CPU because a VME/MXIbus cycle has higher priority to the CPU than the operating system, thus the CPU waits forever for the VME/MXIbus cycle to complete. This could be problem that you are having.

I will be needing more information.

Kind Regards.
