Happy New Year LabVIEW User Group members!

As we begin the new year, we want to ensure we have a good representation of LabVIEW presentations on the Resource Center (https://decibel.ni.com/content/groups/labview-user-group-leaders) for your upcoming meetings in 2013.

To accomplish this task, we would like to hear from you about last year's meetings. Specifically, which GREAT topics were presented, name the 'not so good' presentations which require a face lift and, especially, what are the topics that you wish had been covered and were not.

Please take a moment and give this some thought, we care about the success of the LabVIEW User Group meetings and your success as well.

Thanks very much for your time.

I've always found that LabVIEW presentation on good UI development to go over well.

We usually have a blend of presentations at each of our user groups. Those that are most well received are typically from the audience and cover LabVIEW based software/coding topics:

  • user solutions
  • how-to guides (Scripting, XControls, Project Management etc.)
  • user interface design
  • software architectures (MVC, hardware abstraction etc.)
  • OOP (starting to get a foothold with the core audience, but there's still inertial resistance to class-based development)
  • calling external code (.NET mainly - there's fun to be had in there!)

We have covered TestStand before, and the odd hardware topic, but it's definitely a LabVIEW oriented crowd.

Things that aren't so well received are the highly polished NI presentations, oddly. Fewer people tend to be interested in presentations that show off just how good NI hardware is, but secretly I think we all get a bit of useful information from these so we're grateful to hear them every now and then.
