Building a Frequency Generator with a USRP 2900

Hi friends,

I would like to know if there are some built applications in order to use a USRP like a frequency generator, something like this equipment from other companny: http://www.promaxelectronics.com/ing/products/radio-frequency-rf-equipment/GR-405/4400-mhz-rf-signal...

I'm not an expert in telecomunications area however I know the capabilities of the equipment, but I don't know if this functionality could be achieved with the USRP 2900.

Hi,

I believe you want a portable frequency generator.

You can use the 2900 to do be a frequency generator but with following caveats:

1. The NI USRP 2900 was designed to be connected to a host machine at all times so likely you need a laptop/some Windows host to be a part of the system.
2. Power range requirements may not be met and you might need additional RF amplifier stage at the 2900's output.
3. FCC regulations probably need to be checked if you want to use this device as a portable RF frequency generator!
