Consider the VIs a, b, c & d (below) each of which generate String Array Out with different content.

Match each String Arrays 1, 2, 3 & 4 with the VI (a, b, c, or d) that generated its content?

What is the function being used? It looks similar to a 'Match Pattern' function.

*Edit: it is a Search/Split String function found under Functions Pallet>Programing>Strings>Additional String Functions

The key is C answer 4. Because using shift register, the number is set to 2 (Steve) by the search "e" that can not trigger "-1" to stop the loop. Do it will run 3 times and get 3 "St"
