SystemLink 2020 R4 Installation failure - ni-skyline-rabbitmq

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I´ve downloaded and installed a testversion of SystemLink successfully on my Win 10 PC.

Due to an error I had to reinstall SystemLink. Now I encounter an error when trying to install SystemLink again, which depends on ni-skyline-rabbitmq-support (20.6.0.49152-0+f0) (see attachement).

I´ve already did try the solution, which is described in the following article: https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z000000kIbbSAE&l=de-DE but I still encounter the same error.

What can I do to install SystemLink again successfully?

Thanks in advanced for your support!

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Some of these instructions will be the same as the document you followed already, but please try the following.

  • Before starting follow the procedures in Generating and Locating NI Package Manager Error Logs to enable MSI logs. If you still run into issues I will want to see the logs that were produced.
  • Verify that RabbitMQ and Erlang have been uninstalled through NI Package Manager
  • In your system settings access Apps and Features. You can
    • Remove RabbitMQ Server 3.8.2
    • Remove Erlang OTP22 (10.6)
  • Open Registry Editor and delete the following registry key if it exists
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ericsson\Erlang\ErlSrv\1.1\RabbitMQ
  • Delete the following directories on your system if they exist
    •  %programdata%\National Instruments\Skyline\SkylineConfigurations
    • %programdata%\National Instruments\Skyline\NoSqlDatabase
    • %programdata%\National Instruments\Skyline\Certificates\rabbitmq-server
  • Delete .erlang.cookie from your user dir if it exists

After cleaning everything up, perform the installation again. If the installation still fails please provide me with the MSI logs.

Thank you for your support!

I repeated the steps you suggested and noted the following:

All these files/entries didn't exist on my machine:

  • Registry Editor and delete the following registry key if it exists
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ericsson\Erlang\ErlSrv\1.1\RabbitMQ
  • Delete the following directories on your system if they exist
    •  %programdata%\National Instruments\Skyline\SkylineConfigurations
    • %programdata%\National Instruments\Skyline\NoSqlDatabase
    • %programdata%\National Instruments\Skyline\Certificates\rabbitmq-server
  • Delete .erlang.cookie from your user dir if it exists

After cleaning up, i ran again in the same error. You find the generated logfiles attached.

Is there an MSI log specific to the ni-skyline-rabbitmq-support installer? Could you attach that log file?

Hi Max,

I hope one of the attached files is the right one.

In the Error_logs.png you can see all the created logfiles, which were saved to C:\Users\<Windows Username>\AppData\Local\National Instruments\NI Package Manager\Logs\WinInstMSI

Thanks again for your help!

Finally I managed to solve the installation problem by installing Erlang and RabbitMQ manually. Therefore, I executed the following steps:

  1. follow the steps, which are described here (NI_Article), until step 5:
  2. Deleting the following folders, if existant:
    • C:\Program Files\RabbitMQ Server
    • C:\Program Files\erl-XX.X (version-number)
    • C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\Skyline\RabbitMQ
    • C:\ProgramData\RabbitMQ

  3. Do step 6 in the article (NI_Article) and restart PC
  4. installing Erlang & RabbitMQ manually (note you first have to install Erlang)
  5. Restart PC
  6. Start Installation of SystemLink (SystemLink_Download)
