Solved!

Hello, everyone,

my group bought a  C-series module for functional safety NI-9351 for experiment set-up.

but after reading the Manual, I still not understand how it works and what does it work for. I think it might be used for an emergence stop?

Does anyone know this Module?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

The module contains built-in diagnostics that can monitor the status of the hardware and the integrity of the connections.

It can be used to control critical safety functions in manufacturing assembly and test cells, large physical tests, condition monitoring applications, and process monitoring and control.

Probably you can refer to these links below.

Hello,

Thank you for your help.

do you know if this module can be connected to the laser machine or thermocouple so that it can monitor the temperature conditions?

thanks for your help.

Best regards

9351 has 4 AI channels capable of measuring 0-20mA current loop, if you got a temperature transmitter that could output 0-20mA, then yes, you can implement the temperature monitor.

Hi,

There is a self-contained safety logic solver in the module.

sensor -> logic solver -> final element

https://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/377936c.pdf

https://www.ni.com/en-my/innovations/white-papers/17/functional-safety-for-compactrio.html

https://www.ni.com/en-my/innovations/white-papers/17/functional-safety-overview.html

So you can connect a sensor to the module and used it for the temperature monitoring.

Thanks.
