With the development of HCI, the technology of touch sreen has been more and more popular. This design is a multi-touch system made by oureelves. It is based on Labview software, a camera and a projector. In theory, our screen enables users to touch infinite spots at the same time. And with Labview software,it can be used for HCI drawing software and simple image processing.
In the video is the presentation of a drawing software using our screen. When fingers touches the screen, the path of your fingers will be shown.
Multiple applications can be developed based on our touch screen and the Labview software. This technology can also be used to make large touch screen with low cost.
The basic principle of the design is : in the interior of a Acrylic glass board more than 8mm thick(which is surrounded by some IR LEDs), for FTIR, the ray will keep doing total reflection and not leave the board. When fingers touches the board, total reflection is stopped and infrared ray will scatter under the fingers. We use a camera(which is added with a IR filter) to shoot the picture. In a PC the picture is processed with the Labview software and the coordinates are calculated. Thus the input of application like drawing software and image processing is got. To touch the screen we can draw in drawing software and manipulate a picture in the image processing software.
In hardware area, the design uses FTIR in a Acrylic glass board together with IR LEDs, a camera, a projector and a PC. In software area, the design uses Vision functions in the Labview software to capture and processs the picture.
The highlight of creativity of the design is shown as below:
Hey hongyiliu,
Thank you so much for your project submission into the NI LabVIEW Student Design Competition. It's great to see your enthusiasm for NI LabVIEW! Make sure you share your project URL (https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-16505) with your peers so you can collect votes via "likes" for your project and win. Collecting the most "likes" gives you the opportunity to win cash prizes for your project submission. I'm curious to know, what's your favorite part about using LabVIEW and how did you hear about the competition?
Finally - please add the following information to your submission document. I know that it's in the attachment, however it will make it easier for us when assessing your submission.
