Title: Efficient Wireless Data Transfer for Realtime Greenhouse Management Using IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBEE protocol
Description:
In our day to day life agriculture plays a vital role, the quality and cost are the major problem in food products, there is a greater demand for food product due to drastic population growth, our world population is expected to reach 9.1 billion people by 2050, Agricultural and power production demand increases rapidly (survey by MICCA). The environmental issues such as temperature, humidity, soil and pest are the factors affect the crop growth and productivity up to 30% (IFPRI).The Greenhouse with an perfect control system helps to over come this problem.

The Challenge
Challenge is to make a controlled algorithm to maintain the indoor environment without any effect by external condition for different types of crops without any physical interuption by user . The precise controlling of indoor climatic is a main challenge in green house management.
The limitations are large green house structures should be used for improved climatic control. Initial implementation cost is high because of actuators used.
In Research application, case study can be done for different climatic condition for specific species of crop. hence the rate of vegitation can be enormously developed, so a data base management is done with the help of LabVIEW11 hece a user can retrive and analyse the data at any time.
The Solution
With the help of virtual tool such as LabVIEW, embedded with sensors, the proposed design is to measure, acquire and control user required parameter. An autonomous system contribute improved and constant yield.
Autonomous system which is proposed is an embedded control system. The system can run independently without any external power supply for a 6-8 month using solar energy.
System maintains stable climatic condition which helps in improving the growth rate of the crop. Each plant has certain parametric set values which can be predefined by user in the virtual software. Thus LabVIEW is programmed such that the constant condition is maintained with the help of actuators such as Heaters, Humidifiers, and Sprinklers etc.., IEEE802.15.4/ZigBee does the wireless communication between greenhouse nodes and remote monitoring node.
Pests and pathogens are controlled by changing the temperature of the chamber and also through water jetting. By controlling the temperature, growth of the pests can be reduced.
To have effective energy harvesting, two solar panels (WE-1) is coupled with the nodal block which makes system works independently. The estimated power consumption of each (electronic node)EN in peak sunlight the amount of energy harvested for a 16W solar panel produces 16W/hr. for 1000W panel harvested 1000W/hr with respect to area.
Here a 6V battery connected with 16W solar panel is more sufficient to maintain the node block power, hence battery never get down.
WORKING & RESULTS:
Here i have shown, the overall arrangement of the approach, which are clearly taged.
The hardware of the node unit, this is placed inside the chamber.
corresponding test results of node unit(the LM35 & HSY-220 sensor output):
The vrms is the output value
SOIL MOISTURE UNIT output:
PC UNIT:
As per the flow these node unit data, is transmitted to PC unit to Labview via serial communication.
LabVIEW Front panel:
Data are collected from each node, displayed and controlled respectively with the input.
Control Unit:
hardware of control unit is shown, each actuators are controlled with the obtained value.
Data Sheet:
sequence of data is stored in an spread sheet, this is used for DBMS, for future reference and analysis this is used.
Plot From the obtained data:
from the data sheet, the corresponding plots where made for each parameter.
Green house chamber implemented:
A test chamber(10*10*12ft), system is successfully implemented.
Applications:
This system can also be applicable for outdoor agricultural monitoring, Irrigation management and solar dryer controlling. It has a feasible form of applications such as monitoring industrial environment (such as highly dangerous chemical factory monitoring) . Depending up on the application the actuators can be added or replaced for precise controlling of the parameters.
FESIBILITY: The overall cost will be around Rs8,000, which will be more usefull to low level and medium level farmers and it can be easily implemented and programable. This approach will leads to next generation of green House farming, This can be Comertialized and upgraded depending on the needs of the farmer. These are the Economic and Technical Fesibility of the concept.
Others, please see the attached files, i have described testing and results breifly.

Fantabulous!
Being the HOD of ECE department, Dr. NGP IT, I feel proud of this project because it is one of a kind. Keep it up!
When I was in college I was very interested in Agriculture. Now I see a very good project here.
