HP34401a rs232 Error -1073807339 occurred at ivi_IviDmm Initialize With Options.vi

Hello All,

I am trying to evaluate SignalExpress LE but I am running into problems connecting to my instrument.

I am usnig:

USB RS232 FTDI chip-X

HP34401A (Set to rs232 on the front panel)

I have installed:

SignalExpress 2015 (LE)

NI-VISA

and the IVI driver for 34401a

When I try to connect to the IVI driver I get the following error:

SE-Error.png

I am able to connect to the instrument using NI-MAX and VISA Test Panel:

VISA-test.png

I have seen a number of posts with similar issues but with little of no advice as to how to fix this in signalexpress.

Please point me in the right direction

Thanks Ed

Hi Ed,

Am I right if you have installed at least the following necessary drivers for this instrument?

IVI Compliance Package 4.6.1
NI-VISA 5.4

Could you maybe upload the code that you are using?

Did you try to run an example that is included in the IVI package after installation? Do you experience the same error there?

Best regards,

Hello Jonas.

Yes,i have NI-visa and IVI compliance Package installed.

I am not running code as such. I am trying to use signalexpress to to some very basic data logging using IVI DMMM acquire as outlined here.

http://www.ni.com/white-paper/5697/en/

I will look at the examples in the IVI package. At a glance I only saw labview examples.

Thanks Ed

Hi Ed,

- You could try to follow the steps in the following KB:

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/874B379E24C0A0D686256FCF007A6EA0?OpenDocument

Some steps are written from the perspective of LabVIEW, but you could search for the similar settings in SignalExpress.

- Another thing you could try is to reinstall your NI-VISA driver.

- You could also try to use a different port.

I hope this helps,
