Error 201003 DAQmx Create Channel - Ascension trakSTAR (USB 6000)

I have a .vi that was running on a laptop at our other lab and I am trying to set it up on a new laptop here. The USB 6000 device is a 3D Guidance Ascension Technology trakSTAR.

In labview, I have been receiving error after error which I have been slowly trouble shooting and correcting. Now I have everything working EXCEPT that labview does not see the device. When I run the program I receive the following message:

Error - 201003 occurred at DAQmx Create Channel (AI-Voltage-Basic).vi:1780002

MAX shows the device (NI USB-6000 "Dev 1"), but there is a red 'x' beside it and the options "reset","self-test",and "create task" are inactive and greyed out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and updated Labview, DAQmx, DAQmx base all without any improvement.

I know that the device, the cable, the hookups are working because I am getting real time data through the Ascension software. I don't understand why Labview cannot see it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi cczyrnyj,

Just a couple things,

1.   What operating system are you using? If you are using Windows, you should only use DAQmx, not DAQmx Base. DAQmx Base is generally only used for Linux and Mac operating systems. Therefore, you should only have either DAQmx or DAQmx Base installed. Having both on your system could be causing problems.

2.   If your device was used first with the Ascension software, Windows may have assigned a different driver to that device instead of NI-DAQmx. In order for MAX and LabVIEW to see your device properly, you may need to go into Windows Device Manager and change the driver over to NI-DAQmx instead of the Ascension driver that may have come with your device.

Let me know how these go, and good luck!
