What’s the ramp technique?

Hi All,

I would appreciate it if somebody can explain to me what’s meant by the ramp technique and how can you use it to plot the frequency response of a filter?

Thanks

Hi Marwan,

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'ramp technique', I have a few possible ideas for what it might refer to.

Could you point me to where you read about it?  From there I should be able to help you.

Thanks,

Marwan,

I've discovered what's called the Ramp Response (and this is what I initially thought you meant by Ramp Technique)

It is similar to creating the impulse response of a system, but you applying a unit ramp instead of an impulse to excite the system.

does this help?

SheelaS

The exercise is to determine the cutoff frequency of a low pass filter by using the ramp technique.

Thanks

Marwan

Marwan,

I think you mean to use a frequency sweep, we have some information about this on our website here: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2602

As there is still some ambiguity however, I would suggest you check with your tutor/mentor that this is the right idea.
