Query problems for the HP 3314A function generator

This computer is connected to labVIEW via GPIB. I'm trying to send a query to the 3314A so it'll return the current frequency or voltage at a given point in time. The query commands given in the documentation,
wrt 707, "QAP"
red 707, A
give me error messages. I'm just using the 'GPIB Write' and 'GPIB Read' functions.

Hi,

The first thing you need to do is check the connection in MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer). Is the instrument detected by MAX when using "scan for instruments"?. If it is, then click on "communicate with instrument". Try a query using a simple command like "*IDN?". If the instrument responds to this query, you canb assume that the GPIB communication is working properly.

What kind of error are you getting?. Is it an instrument error or is the function returning an error?. What are the error messages?. Are you sending the appropriate command?. Change the display of the string control to HEX, to see exactly the characters that are being send.
