Generate current from PCI-6289

I am loading a waveform from ASCII and would like to use that wave to output a current using a PCI-6289, but voltage is the only signal I am able to generate. Is there a way to output a current with this DAQ card or an accurate way to measure the current created by the generated voltage?

Hello,

After looking at the PCI-6289 card, I noticed that this won't allow you to specify a current to generate. In order to control the current, you will need to know the resistance of the load so you can use ohm's law to know how much voltage to generate for the load. With this card though, the maximum drive for any line is 5mA. If you are looking for more than this, I would suggest looking at our DAQ boards that are more geared towards this type of task. For example, the PCI-6236, 6238, and 6239 will be able to drive a current output of 0 to 20mA and you will be able to use the current task with this cards.
