Doug,
Funny you should mention you got better results from RSE than with Differential as I have found the same in some circumstances. Regarding techniques for reducing RF noise, there are a lot of variables in DAQ settings and drain resistor configurations/values, and my sparse electrical theory makes trial and error the best option. That was why I found Johns reply so enlightening. Glad to hear you sorted it though, and it was interesting to hear the end of the story.
Regards.

Doug and Tim,
Thank you for the update and comments.
There really are sound principles involved in setting up measurement systems, but often the information available about some (or many) of the components is so limited as to make the application of the principles difficult to impossible.
Depending on how a current output transducer is powered, the signal is sometimes more like RSE than differential.
If you MEs get stuck on some of this more esoteric electrical stuff, I am in the business of solving that kind of problems.
