Looking for long distance/range sensor.

I am looking for a sensor (preferably analog output) to measure distance to an approaching/leaving automobile at distances up to 100m. Ultrasonic, IR, anything is acceptable. Can do serial if necessary. Lowest cost for prototyping is best. Resolution within several feet is good enough.

Hello,

www.ni.com/sensors is the National Instruments website for our Plug and Play sensor resources. If you are interested in Plug and Play, this will be the best option for you.

Otherwise, you may want to look into some well known sensor companies. www.omega.com may have something for you, or you may want to check out Digi-Key. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help and provide you with a direct answer. Best of luck.

Laser Technology is about to release a laser distance sensor.
It ranges to 300 yards with one tenth of a foot accuracy.
Pre-production units available this month.

Pricey though - $1,900.
