Filtering signal from AE sensor to replace Kistler Piezotron Coupler Type 5125B

Hi there,

I am using two Kistler Acoustic Emission Sensors Type 8152B111 to detect fracture in bone. I am using one Kistler Piezotron Coupler Type 5125B to filter the signal output from one sensor but for the other I need to filter the signal using LabView. I need to know if this is possible please, and a rough guide on how to go about this.

The amplifier is able to filter the signal using one high pass (50kHz) and one low pass (900kHz) filter. A butterworth filter is required and we also need a gain of 10 or 100.
Below is a list of the products we purchased a while ago:
  • NI PXIe-1082 (Part no. 780321-01) Express chassis with AC
  • NI PXIe-8135 (Part no. 782450-04) 2.3GHz Quad-core express controller
  • NI PXIe-6356 (Part no. 781053-01) Simultaneous X series Data Acquisition
  • NI PXIe-4331 (Part no. 781345-01) Bridge input module
  • NI PXIe-4492 (Part no. 781490-01) BNC analogue input module
  • NI TB 4330 (Part no. 781437-01) Terminal Block

I have attached the specification sheet for the coupler and tha for the acoustic sensor also, to clarify.

Hi ClodaghD

We have the possibility to use different VIs, in our case I will attach some links that will be useful for you:

Your sensors need a current drive supply, so for one sensor you are using the 5125, but do you already have a constant current source for your other sensor?

Don't just hook it up to a voltage supply, you can burn up your sensor!

If you want to use both sensors simoultaniously AND you need to have (well, ... about) equal transferfunctions (gain, filter) , you will nedd to do channel calbrations anyway to do a correction,

I asssume you do the analyses in the frequncy domain, so there is the way to do the correctons.

If you just want to use both sensors for a task, a Q&D solution is possible.. but a professional solution would be to use two identical conditioner.

the cheap Q&D solution includes soldering your own driver circuit 😉

What do you NEED to do?
