To program started without the sbRIO, I am sure it can't be that difficult. This should be a standard example file as the world runs on VFDs.

I would never tap out. 🙂 I was simply suggesting you to move your question to the proper forum and work through the getting started documents for the sbRIO before requesting a turn-key solution. I admit I have never worked with a VFD myself, but I do know how to program AI/AO/DI/DO to work with any device. The benefit of a forum is that you run the chance of finding someone who has done or is planning to do the same application as you. The best way to find someone like that is to put together a clear and concise description of your problem including the hw and software AND what you've tried so far. The more effort you put into your post, the better your chances for a great response. I would urge you to not only link to the old forum, but also write up a summary into one blurb.

I want to point out that without the sbRIO you cannot simulate a signal like the cDAQ, but you can program. I hope that makes sense.

Anyone out there know of a program for VFD (Real-Time with sbRIO)? It should be one that kicks on the VFD as a result of something else (i.e. tank low, low air flow across a filter, doesn't matter).

 

Known:

 

VFD to be controlled as part of system design/response system

0-60 Hz, 0 is stop, 60 Hz is full open running

can run backwards (i.e. -5 to 5 volts analog)

VFD has analog signal to feed back to controller that allows for monitoring (kind of a sub-response system so the controller can adjust for performance)

I am sorry, but I do not have time to chase down a solution. I require direct and concise answers. I'm not getting how the video example applies to my specific request. I do not think hooking up a sbRIO will be that difficult once I have one. Also, I have already set up a project similar to the video. The program Carlton developed, is that a VFD control program?

 

Will the sbRIO control the slider in Carlton's program in lieu of the human interaction with this program? Does the program allow for expansion to another sub-VI for response (i.e. response: If operating conditions are not met, the VFD is signaled to speed up/slow down)?

 

Also, I do not know cDAQ, so references to other NI hardware/software other than sbRIO, Labview and RT do not mean anything to me.

Thanks for taking the time to formulate a concise detailed explanation of your problem. The video was meant to help you get started with I/O channels. The example Carlton showed was general control for an AO channel and aquisition of an AI channel. If you are looking for a custom instrument driver for WEG's VFD, I regret to say I cannot find one. The instrument drivers we do support can be found under Help in LabVIEW. 

If you need conditional responses, I would suggest you use a case structure or event structure. http://www.ni.com/gettingstarted/labviewbasics/exestructures.htm 

It sounds like your time is very valuable, so I would suggest you consider an NI Alliance Parter to program this device for you. Would you care to be pointed in that direction?
