How can I connect CSI-2 interface Camera to Flexrio PXIe-7976?

Solved!

Hi All,

1. I need to connect a CSI-2 camera interface to Flexrio PXIe-7976. Is there a Custom Adapter module available?

Can I use NI-6581B custom Adapter module?

2. I need to connect FPD link III camera interface to Flexrio PXIe-7976. Is there a Custom Adapter module available? Can I use NI-6581B custom Adapter module?

CSI-2 is a Serial interface.

There aren't any commercial off the shelf FAMs for the 7976 that are capable of csi-2 communication. You would need to make your own FAM to do that.

Usually we recommend our high speed serial boards (the 6591 or 6592) for folks looking to implement a solution that requires a high speed serial protocol. Unfortunately there are electrical incompatibilities with csi-2 and our high speed serial boards.

You may want to contact the camera vendor to see if they'll recommend a frame grabber vendor for your camera.

Hi David.. Thanks for the reply. This does help in narrowing down the issue. Does FAM means FPGA Adapter Module?

1. Does FAM means FPGA Adapter Module?

2. How about using NI6581B and implementing CSI-2 protocol in FPGA for acquisition?

Hi Waseem,

I recommend reaching out to Konrad Technologies.  They have interfaces for both FPD Link III and CSI-2.
