Compatible C-Series module with NI-91144 / NI-9145

Solved!

Ni has provided  C Series Module Compatibility Chart in this link:

http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/8136/en/

based on this chart, no Industrial Communication Protocol card (Such as NI-9860, NI-9866 and I-9881) are not compatible with NI-9144/5 scan mode. Is it possible to use this devices in NI-9144/5 FPGA mode?

You either use the FPGA on the 9144 or use it in Scan Mode. Scan mode does not support the Industrial Communication modules, as seen in the chart.

Although you cannot deploy the NI 986x C series modules beneath an FPGA target in a LabVIEW project, the 986x C series modules require an FPGA VI to be deployed to provide proper XNET support for themselves. This is the reason why the C Series Module Compatibility Chart indicates FPGA support for the NI 986x modules. For these modules the cRIO/FPGA chassis has to be in hybrid mode for proper use. This means that you compile and upload an FPGA code on the device and then add modules using the scan interface. The 9144 is an expansion chassis so it is hard to say what will happen if you try putting it in hybrid mode, however you can try the setup described on pages 2-7 through 2-11 in the XNET Hardware and Software Manual.

Whet is the master of your EtherCAT? It might be easier to put the comm modules into a proper cRIO if you have one in the setup.

Hello!

Currently,  NI 9881 CANopen module is not supported in the NI 914x EtherCAT chassis in Scan or FPGA mode. Here's a great chart for specific modules and their compatibility with FPGA, RIO Scan, EtherCAT Scan, and EtherCAT FPGA:

http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/10622/en/

Hope this helps with your questions on the CANopen module!

thanks for your answer

The system includes one PXI (NI-1062Q chassis and NI- PXIe 8135 controller) and a chain of NI-9145 ethercat expansion chassis.

unfortunately we don't have any cRO controller to put serial interface module on it.
