Address claiming in SAE J1939

Hi all,
       I need to  to receive some of the information like Vehicle identification number, Driver identification,etc (SAE J1939) from the truck. Iam using a diagnostic tool and i have made some code for requesting and receiving these data.

As iam a newbie to this i have some doubts on requesting data,

* Before requesting each information whether i should do address claiming process?

* Is it possible to get an example for address claiming?
