A connection could not be established with the Compact Rio

We have a CRio 9014.  We have installed LabView with Realtime and FPGA onto our computer.  We launch LabView (8.5) and choose Real Time Project and walk through the screens:  We Browse for target and our compact rio appears (it is connected into the same hub as the host computer).  Then in the screen Add Targets and Devices on  - we choose our Compact Rio and click on OK - the software says Initializing then comes up with this error.

"A connection could not be established to the specified remote device. Ensure that the device is on and accessible over the network, that NI-RIO software is installed, and that the RIO server is running and properly configured. If the device is a controller, make sure that it is not in safe mode."

It is not in safe mode and there is flashing on the Link/Activity indicator.  The Power indicator is steady green and the other 3 indicators are not lit.

We had used this Rio before in a different lab with a different host computer so we are somehwat confident that the RIO is ok.

Thank you.

Hi Renee,

Can you please provide the error number that you get when you try to connect your cRIO to the host? In several cases, the connection cannot be made due to a driver (NI-RIO) mismatch between the cRIO and the host computer. Please refer to this knowledgebase article for more information on this error and how to fix the drivers. Howver, before doing this I would also advise providing the error  number as well as searching using that error number here. Hope this helps.

I ran into this same issue exact issue today, and it was resolved by simply manually setting the IP address in MAX.

If you can see your cRio in the 'Remote Devices' tab, yet you can not expand it to see 'Devices and Interfaces' and 'Software' then there is a connection/IP problem and manually setting the IP shoudl resolve it.
