Did you mean:

Error 5048 occurred at Initializing Writer Failed: Unable to access library handler.

What should I do when receiving error 5048 when using a shipping example? I've checked the file path for that library as shown in the screenshot attached and tried uninstalling and reinstalling the toolkit as well as LabVIEW.

Hello bradenk, I haven't been able to reproduce this issue. I have used LabVIEW 2023 32 bits (as I can see from the picure).

Which version of the RTI DDS Toolkit are you using?

Can you explain the steps to reproduce it?

Are you using a custom QoS file?

Regards,

Angel.

I am using the latest version of RTI DDS Toolkit (3.2.0.113).

I was successfully using the toolkit for a couple months, then this error started popping up.  It seems like something in the installation has maybe been corrupted or something...but even when I completely removed LabVIEW 2023 and re-installed it along with the toolkit, I am still getting this error.

The error is happening even without a custom QOS file.  When I run the shipping example shown in the screenshot, I still get this error.  My colleagues on other machines are able to run custom code and shipping examples just fine.  Any suggestions for how to start fresh or fix what might be occurring?

Thanks in advance

Yes, that error is shown when there are issues loading the DLL, so probably something is corrupted. Can you try to uninstall everything (with administrator privileges)? Then, try to search 'RTI' or 'DDS' in the LabVIEW folder and delete everything that is contained in an RTI/DDS folder. Then, install it again.

If this doesn't fix the issue, you can try the previous steps + remove the latest version from the VIPM (right click/remove version from library). Then you need to update the feeds again in VIPM to download again the latest version, just in case something weird is in the cache of VIPM.

So I wasn't able to follow your exact steps since the "remove version from library" option was greyed out in the menu on VIPM.  I did the uninstall with administrative privilges and removed anything found in an RTI/DDS folder. Then I deleted all files starting with "real-time_innovations_..." from C:\ProgramData\JKI\VIPM\cache.  After this I redownloaded the latest version of the RTI DDS Toolkit and tried running the same vi and got the same error as before.

Uhm, that is weird, can you try the following?

* Install a different version of the RTI DDS Toolkit

* Install the toolkit in a different version of LabVIEW

* Install the toolkit in LabVIEW 64 bits

Okay, I tried uninstalling the version of RTI DDS Toolkit I had using VIPM as administrator, and installing a later version then still got the same error running the same example vi.  I then Installed LabVIEW 2023 64-bit, downloaded the latest version of RTI DDS Toolkit to it, and tried the same thing and got the same error.  Finally I installed LabVIEW 2024 32_bit, downloaded the latest version of RTI DDS Toolkit, and tried the same example and got the same error.

That is unfortunate to hear. I haven't been able to reproduce the issue, but it seems to be something wrong with the installation of LabVIEW or the windows configuration related to it. Can you let me know which modules from LabVIEW did you install? Also, other toolkit that you have installed?

In the meanwhile, I don't know if it would be possible to uninstall everything related to LabVIEW and delete the folders under `C:\Program Files\National Instruments` and also for `Program Files (x86)`. Then install everything again, just in case some configuration changes has been done.

Another thing that you could try is to install another version of the RTI Toolkit.
