How to test WRAN using list modes? any example codes with list modes?

Hello Titanium,

What behavior are you looking for in the program?

There is a niWLAN shipping example, it may be located in the Example Finder.
With Browse according to: set to Directory Structure navigate:
RF Toolkits » WLAN » generation » niWLAN Generate WLAN Waveforms (Script Mode).vi

Hi Matthew H.

Are you saying WRAN and WLAN are the same?

And List Mode and Script Mode are equivalent?

Not too  familiar with WRAN (IEEE 802.22 cognitive radio-based), but it is not the same as WLAN (802.11 ...).

Here we have research with NI RF software and hardware.

http://sine.ni.com/cs/app/doc/p/id/cs-14843

This is achieved at a lower level than NI measurements suites for standards like WLAN.  Most likely they are using the NI Modulation Toolkit that comes with the NI HW to create waveforms and protocols to research, develop and test WRAN.  By the way, the NI WLAN measurements suites (and other suites) are built on top of the Modulation Toolkit.

I have not heard of efforts yet to create a NI WRAN measurement suite for.  Perhaps it is still too new (??).

List mode allows you to create a list of parameters that are sequenced in hardware (e.g. power, frequency, ...) so as to reduce the latency involved with a software command to update the parameters.  Script mode is a simple text based command set/language that allows you to download an name waveform(s) to hardware memory, and then determine how the hardware outputs these waveforms, based on timing, harware triggers, etc.  And, scripting can also have the hardware output triggers at certain times during the waveform output.  Both provide hardware level control that reduces the latency and can provide sequencing commonly used in tests/control applicactions.

Note this help page where an FGEN provides both "Frequency list mode" and "Script mode" output modes.

Here is an example/desciption of RF using List Mode.

And, and example of FGEN using Scipt Mode

List modes I think uses a Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) vs. downloading waveforms to play via Script Mode.
