Hi nisimt,

8234, http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/205150, is the only GigE available on PXI.

However, as shown in http://www.norpix.com/supported_hardware/framegrabbers.php, Norpix only supports camera link from NI.

Therefore, if you wish to use Norpix, you may consider camera link with PCI or PCIe interface as shown in http://sine.ni.com/nifn/cds/view/main/p/sn/n32:frameGrabber,n36:10055/lang/en/nid/1286/ap/vision.

Hello nisimt,

Prosilica's GigE cameras will function with a standard ethernet controller driver and performance driver.  When using software such as Streampix from Norpix, you are limited to what this company offers specific to drivers.  The response in this thread mentions that Norpix is currently limited to offering Cameralink.  I verified that this is what is currently advertised on their website.  However this does not mean that the software will not work in a PXI environment, it simply has not been tested yet (most likely).  As initially mentioned, Prosilica's GigE cameras will function with a standard ethernet controller driver and performance driver.  The performance driver is optimized and offers slightly lower CPU usage while being hardware dependent, so this driver is unlikely to be available in a PXI environment.  A standard driver in comparison should work with a Prosilica camera.  Even if you are using hardware from National Instruments, inside this device uses a gigabit ethernet chipset from Intel or Marvel, etc, which means a standard driver is likely available.  I encourage you to contact Norpix to determine if they have tried this.  Are you working directly with Prosilica or via a distributor?  Do you have a camera in hand or considering doing some test?  Please contact Prosilica directly to discuss this scenario.

Regards,
Paul K.

Thank you for your response

I work with Prosilica distributer and already tried GC 1350, though on a standars PC, not on a PXI.  My application will require taking photographs of 3 cameras simultaniously with a rate of 50 MBps each. I am afraid that PXI will not be able to cope with that, in case i choose PXI.
