trouble setting up pxi chassis configurations

I'm trying to set up two Pickering PXI chassis in my test tower and the current pxisys.ini file is set for only one chassis.  I copy in the appropriate information for the second chassis and when I reopen MAX, the original ini file is back.  Is there something that MAX is doing to cause this?

It sounds like max is resetting its configuration data when you reopen it.  Do all of your custom scales and tasks also dissapear when this happens or is it just the pxisys data that is unexpected?  The answer to that would tell us if all config data is being reset or if only that particular file. 

Whether MAX resets its config data is different in different versions of MAX.  which version are you using?
