It is probably a mix of a dollar, a software issue and an absent minded engineer 🙂
In fact, NI4110 is quite nice (I have found no better for the same price). Maybe for what you wanted, you could have used something from pickering or dgeinc, they have nice modules that output several fixed DC voltage.
