I connected a PXI 7330 Motion Controller Card. Then I tried to download the new firmware/make sure the connection worked. I followed the directions on how to do that from the Getting Started Guide it came with. I opened Measurement and Automation. Expanded Devices and Interfaces, then NI Motion Devices. Selected the 7330 motion controller. Clicked the firmware tab. Clicked update firmware.
However, I got an error saying that the device needs to be in reset state.
How do I put the device in reset state?
When I selected the 7330 motion controller under NI Motion Devices, I noticed that it had a red x on it. That probably shouldn't be there, but I am not sure how to get rid of it.

Hi,
If there is a red X on the device then it indicates it is not working properly or not being recognized by the system. This is probably why the firmware update is failing. Do you have the motion drivers installed? If so which version?

Turns out all I needed to do was click the "Reset Device" button on the Status tab, which is next to the firmware tab.
I called the NI help line to get the answer. I had the latest NI Motion Drivers installed.
