chassis (PXI 1042Q) can't recognize PXI 6653 5610 5421

Hi,

The chassis (PXI 1042Q) can't recognize PXI 6653 5610 5421. PXI 6653 5610 5421 can't be seen under MAX->my system->devices and interfaces->PXI system(NI PXI8186)->chassis 1(PXI 1042Q).

The chassis(PXI 1042Q) and controller(PXI 8186) worked before.
In the working situation , PXI-5610 was in slot 2,3 and PXI-55421 was in slot 4.
but after I added new device(PXI 6653) into slot 2, moved PXI-5610 to slot 3,4
and PXI-5421 to slot 5. These three module don't work now.

I have tried a lot:
1.Removed the PXI 6653, changed PXI-5610 PXI-5421 back to original positions. They still don't work.
2.reinstall the new NI-VISA 4.3,NI-Sync 3.0 NI-FGEN 2.5.1 NI-RFSG1.3.1 NI-DAQ861
3.right-clicking on the PXI-6653 in MAX and self-test as well as reset
4.
go to MAX > Tools > NI-VISA > VISA Options> General Settings. check Show All Devices Accessible to VISA
under PXI/PCI and Firewire Interfaces. Also, in the Passports tab, check all the different passports except for NiVisaTulip.dll.
A lot of screenshots are attached.
"NI PXI6653 Problem1.jpg" shows the problem when I run the example.
"NI PXI5610 5421 problems.jpg" shows the problem when I run the application. This application ran very well before. (PXI-5610 was in slot 2,3 and PXI-55421 was in slot 4.)
Other screenshots are   the information about system setup.

Please help me to solve the system problem.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Li

Hi Li,

Previously when your system was working, were you able to see the PXI devices (5610 & 5421) under PXI System? One possibility is that there might be an issue with the pxisys.ini file being corrupted. Please go ahead and try resetting it by doing the following:

1) Close MAX
2) Open Windows Explorer
3) Browse to C:\WINDOWS\pxisys.ini and delete the file
4) Reopen MAX

Let us know if you can see the devices under PXI System.

Hi Rasheel,

As you said, I delete the pxisys.ini . But it still does not work.
The screenshots are attached.

"Previously when your system was working, were you able to see the PXI devices (5610 & 5421) under PXI System? "
Because the system worked before, I didn't notice that.  But I found
"pxisys, ini, bak" under c:\windows, it should be the old version that made the system before. I tried to change "pxisys, ini, bak" to "pxists, ini", it still does not work.

So what else I can do?

Thanks,
Li

Hi Li,

There is a good KnowledgeBase article here that explains how to clear that error message up. This usually means that the MAX database is corrupt and needs to be reset.

Please follow the instructions on the KnowledgeBase article above including renameing the DATA directory and deleting the PXISYS,INI file, and let us know how it goes!

Primary Software: Utility Software>>Measurement & Automation Explorer
Primary Software Version: 4.3
Primary Software Fixed Version: 4.3
Secondary Software: N/A

I will follow this document. If it is not the document you say, please reply my post.

Thanks,

Hi Rasheel,

I have tried. So bad, the system still can't work.

The folders "Last" and "Data" have been attached within "ni_support.zip".

I hope the attachment will be helpful.

Thanks,
Li

HI,
I have solved this problem.
Remove the visa 4.4,
1)Uninstall all the VISA software from Control Panel Add/Remove.
2)Look for C:\VXIpnp or C:\ProgramFiles\VISA directory that may not be deleted correctly.  If they exist, delete them.
3)Look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VXIPNP_Alliance registry entry.  If it exists delete it.
4)Look for C:\Windows\System32\VISA32.DLL.  If it exists, delete it.

refer to this quesiton :http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=140&message.id=18194

then reinstall visa4.4 and devices drivers.

Thanks,
Li
