Hello There,

I am unsure about what you are referring to.  The PXI Platform already provides up to 132 MB/s system bandwidth and is based on the PCI platform specifications.  Moreover, the PXI Express can deliver up to 1 GB/s per-slot dedicated bandwidth and up to 7 GB/s total system bandwidth.  Below is a link that explains more about the PXI and PXI Express specifications:

What is PXI?

The "Thunderbolt Port" is an Intel standard that uses a low cost cable to deliver PCIe to daisy-chained peripherals. It would be AWESOME if NI would support Thunderbolt - and particularly for PXI chassis. Thunderbolt is AWESOME - and it is a standard. There are already quite a few Thunderbolt peripherals for MacBook Pros - including a Thunderbolt - PCIe adaptor by Sonnet that will allow Mac laptops to connect to the current PXI chassis using the PCIe solution.

Correction, Thunderbolt IO delivered with new MacBook Pro computers is in fact 2 channels of 10GBps throughput each on a single connector.  Each TBolt channel is four times faster than PCIExpress which is rated at a (mere) 2.5 Gbps.   It would be good to know when PXI will support this interface because Apple pro laptops are and will for a long time henceforth be delivered with Thunderbolt IO...replacing PCIExpress (2.5 Gbps)  and completely leapfrogging USB3.0 (5 Gbps).

Hello,

The use of the Thunderbolt IO platform and the potential of this technology being implemented with our future hardware is not public knowledge and cannot be disclosed currently.  Please allow National Instruments Marketing to prepare a statement that addresses the adoption of different future platforms including the Thunderbolt IO.
