Thermocouple

Solved!

Hi,

i want to add a thermocouple to an AI at my PXI System.

It is a thermocouple typ T and now my Question is, which value do i have to set at CJC Value and what is the sense of this value?

Best wishes

First you need to know how a thermocouple (TC) works

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermocouple

Since the TC only can measure a temperature difference between two points ,the sensing point and the so called Cold Junction Compensation  point , you need on known that CJC temperature.

Usually the voltages generated are quite small, so what type of AI do you have?

Hallo Henrik,

Hi Ache,

which module/card would you like to use for thermocouple measurements?

Our PXI-based temperature measurement moduls can be found here:

https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/category/temperature.html?productId=118784

The PXIe-4353 would be an appropriate solution:

https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/pxie-4353-specs/resource/375508c.pdf

The card includes CJC-compensation.

Where do you want to set the CJC-value? In LabVIEW?

Best Regards,

NI TSE

Hi,

I have the PXIe-4353 but no adapter yet.(it is ordered already)

Now i wanted to test it with another module(PXIe-6356).

What can i do now without an included CJC?

No, i am using VeriStand.

Thank you very much!

Hallo Ache,

"Type-T thermocouples have a sensitivity of about 43 µV/°C."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermocouple

https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/pxie-usb-6356-specs/page/specs.html

https://www.thermocoupleinfo.com/type-t-thermocouple.htm
