Hello,
do you know hardware solution to control a PXI-1031 chassis via a laptop without ExpressCard?
It seems the only way to control PXI-1031 chassis by laptop is to use the PXI-8360 card and NI ExpressCard8360 to link PC and chassis; but what about laptops without ExpressCard slot? Which are almost all new non-dev laptops.
Thank you for your kind answer.
Guillaume

Hi Guillaume,
Currently the only supported way to connect a PXI chassis to a Laptop is using an ExpressCard. I understand that this is far from ideal, especially because new laptops tend not to have the ExpressCard slot.
Many people have wanted to connect similar laptops to ExpressCards without success, so hopefully there will one day be another mean however, at the moment there is no other solution.
You can also put an embedded controller in your chassis and control it remotely with your laptop but I don't know if this solution could suit you.
Best regards,

Hi Guillaume,
We actually recently announced a remote control module to directly address this challenge! The PXIe-8301 allows for control of PXI Express chassis from a laptop using Thunderbolt 3 technology. Note however that it would not be compatible with your PXI-1031, given that the PXIe-8301 can only be used in PXI Express chassis.
You can check out this white paper for a bit more additional info:
