SMB-112 cable safety classifications

Solved!
Go to solution

Not sure if this is the right place, but...

I'm designing a system that uses SMB-112 SMB to BNC cables as internal cables. My system needs to be UL certified, and part of the certification is that any internal insulated cables need to be flame retardant (VW-1 or equivalent).

I can't seem to find any datasheets for SMB-112 stating what safety classifications it has. Does anyone know where I can find this information?

Thanks,

Hazim

Hello,

Are there any specifications in particular that you are looking for?

Here is a link to the Safty and Electromagnetic Compatibility of the SMB 112

http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/373332g.pdf

On the product page, I also found that the Cable meets RoHS requirement speciications. Here is the link:

I hope that this helps you.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm looking to whether this cable (specifically, its insulation material) has passed the VW-1 Vertical Wire Fire Resistance test.

Hello,

I have found this specifications for the cable. I found these specifications for similar cables. I would advice you to no also look at the cable specs, but that the hardware or modules can also handle said Specs.

Max. Temperature Rating: 75 Deg C

Maximum Operating Volts: 30 V RMS

MAX. Approx. Weight (lb/1000 ft): 37

Can you describe a little more of your application, perhaps there is something else that we can use instead?

Thanks for your reply.

I looked at the cable, googled the print on it and found this datasheet: https://www.ccixpress.com/wcsstore/CCIxpress/images/catalog/catalogPDFs/99/991079.pdf

It lists the flame rating as complaint with VW-1. That's all I needed to confirm complaince.

To answer your question: This is a requirement for our rack system to be UL-61010 certified.
