PXIe-8360, Issues with Connection to Laptop

Hi all,

I am currently using a PXIe-1082 chassis, which is linked to my laptop via an MXI cable from an 8360 expresscard in my laptop to a PXIe-8360 controller inside the chassis. A PXIe-4492 card is also installed in the chassis. Everything was working fine, until today when I removed the MXI cable to move some hardware around.

Since I reconnected the MXI cable and switched all the hardware back on, the link LED on the chassis has not switched on despite multiple laptop restarts (the power LED is green however). When I open the measurement & automation explorer,"NI Expresscard 8360" is in the device list, but neither the PXIe-1082 chassis or installed PXI-4492 card are listed.

Can anyone offer any advice on rectifying this?

Thanks for your help!

Hey aluian,

I have a few articles I thought I could post on here which might aid you further in establishing the issue.

It sounds like a link cannot be established between the PXI and the laptop, leading me to narrow down the cause to the MXI cable at the moment

This first KB is just some information on the LED which simple re-states the behaviour you are seeing. Do you happen to have another cable you could try with this set up?

The second KB is a long one regarding troubleshooting this. Some notable things being to see what is shown in Windows Device Manage and to just double check every connections

Let me know if you can follow the troubleshooting through and whether this restores any functionality to your system.

Thanks,
